In case you missed it, here’s Granny’s video:

If you know anyone who thinks they’re not fit enough to do CrossFit, show them this video and let them know that an 87 year old is kickin’ ass! Don’t fail to mention the kids jumping rope and snatching in the background just to add insult to injury!

A letter from Holly

April 26th, 2012 2 comments
Dear all,
We would like to share with you a letter from Holly it is heartwarming and inspirational for us to have such feedback. All of us coaches feel pride whenever one of you reaches your goals and improves your performance. We would like to thank you for your dedication and hard work that speaks for itself.
Dear Olga and Gretchen,
This is not so much a testimonial as it is a transformation and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me make it. As you know I PR’d in the London Marathon this past Sunday at 4:38 nearly a half hour faster than my previous time.  Last month I ran the Paris Half-Marathon and also PR’d at 1:58 taking 10 minutes off my last half.  I owe this incredible progress to an improved diet, mainly Paleo which you turned me on to but more importantly to the hard core, challenging, motivating, and supportive workouts and environment at CrossFitLeman.
I have been running since I was 13 years old and aside from yoga, I’ve never done any consistent cross-training.  I dabbled in some team sports as a kid but I’ve always mainly been a runner. Up until I started CrossFit a year ago I was used to running long, slow distances, feeling accomplished if I hit 5 miles in an hour.  Now however I am consistently clocking 6 miles in an hour and my goal is to increase it even more.  Thanks to CrossFit I feel confident I will achieve my ultimate goal of qualifying for the Boston Marathon (4:00 in my age group).  It will take some time but I’ll get there.
Both of you are very talented coaches by emphasizing correct form and a positive attitude.   Your dedication to your clients’ performance and safety is very much appreciated.   As a not-so-young athlete, I am especially thankful that even during the AMRAP workouts, the emphasis is on form first and you do not hesitate to spot or make adjustments based on individual needs.
Lastly, it’s worth mentioning how much fun it is going to CrossFit Leman!  I love coming in and seeing your smiling faces, hearing the music, and feeling like I’m completely focusing on my goals.  All the women (and men!) at CrossFit are so supportive.  As a newcomer to Geneva, I did not feel really settled until I discoveredCrossFit Leman and working out with Pam, Angie, Gina, and the rest of the crew.
A testimonial seems too fleeting.  After all these years I feel like I am making a transformation into the athlete and person I’ve always wanted to be.  You’ve taught me how to achieve goals in what is essentially a loner sport, in a trusting and supportive environment made up of a group of dedicated coaches and other athletes pursuing their goals.
Keep up the GREAT work!!!
Love, Holly
